appreciate the post gopherlady, all of the points are valid. while i also believe Fritz has done nothing wrong, he may have just missed the boat that was waiting for him.

if he truly had wanted to come to MN, then assuming the offer was not contingent, then he should have taken what was on the table. the family should know by now that recruiting waits for no recruit. ironically, there have been postings that Fritz (or his family?) were put off that MN kept pressuring him to...

A source close to Fritz says that the U pulled his offer because they wanted him to commit and he wasn't ready to make that choice yet.

That doesn't sound like "directly from the u" to me. No, the GI stuff is not all straight from the Bierman Complex.

I disagree...this is not good at all. If this is true, I really dont see Mcneal coming to Minnesota. It sounds as though he and Rock are friends, along with Alipate and Hageman....so I dont think this will help landing the other guys we want in the state.

really? i thought just about anytime rivals put anything up, it came directly from the "u"? i doubt that info came from rock. maybe i'm wrong...

I doubt Fritz would come down to Winona, as he is still a division 1 athlete. I haven't seen him play, but just by looking at the video and others on the site he is still good enough to play somewhere at this level.

I don't understand this. I thought he was being looked at as more of an athlete, not just a WR. I am somewhat surprised by this move, even "publicly" taking away his scholarship.

Recruits don't hold all the power. We really don't need anymore wide receivers. Fritz is a good player but he's not out of this world. We have needs at other spots. It's not a right to keep your scholarship offer if you don't commit.

Most powerhouse programs fill up their spots early because kids know that they won't wait around for them unless they're really ridiculously good.

We've been so used to taking the leftovers of other programs...

hopefully. If we want to win championships like Brewster says whether Big Ten, Rose Bowl or National we have to recruit the star players. It seems like we are already starting a Minnesota chooses you not vice versa approach. I'm not even sure why we would even take Royston back if hes not good enough to play at Wisconsin? We have a limited number of schollies and need to use them to sign the Bryce Mcneals of the world.
