There is nothing wrong with occasionally stopping at an Applebees, Perkins, TGI Fridays, Chilis, etc. for a meal. But Iowegians treat these places like we
treat Manny's. They are the creme de la creme for these people. I expect that some Squawkeyes will be walking into the Applebees on Block E saturday
afternoon for lunch wearing a tie to gussy up their overalls.

Plus many of them are thrilled to find Hotel rooms in Bloomington at higher rates than they | #3 | ||

would pay to stay in downtown so they can go to a glorified Meryl Hay (MOA/ Des Moines reference) mall and ride the light rail to downtown.
The better option is to get a stay at a better hotel downtown, hang out at Brits, the Local, the Newsroom, the warehouse district, and even uptown or NE. then take a 2 minute cab ride to the game or walk, or take the 8 block train ride. Most of these fans have no clue as to how to enjoy a Friday night followed by a 6 pm start in downtown Minneapolis. One Iowa clown Rivals poster actually lamemted having to stay at the Hotel next to the Ichiban steakhouse by across from the Hyatt because the Metrodome was too far away, and because the opportunity to stay in Bloomington and ride the light rail to the game was lost?????? As an Iowa fan, I'd rather stay in Northfield and drive 45 minutes to the game than suffer through some dreary Super 8 by the Mall of America follwed by a visit to Applebees or Chilli's . |
