Kentucky has granted Mike Williams, a 6'11" center, a relaese from his scholarship. Williams was one of Tubby's last recruits at UK. He is
now free to follow Coach Smith to UM. I would certainly expect Coach Smith to contact him.

wasn't a smooth year at UK for many players so I wouldn't count that against him. This takes a little more effort....keep UK (as in United Kingdom)
apart from UK ( as in Kentucky)! Good bet they are in contact as this fellow is from the UK and not necessarily attached to a state program. Go Tubby go!

This guy is the good student that everyone is looking for, don't know if he is PhD material, though. He is a work -in-progress with lack of experience and
the year of sitting out would be just what the doctor ordered. This guy needs a coach that wants to develop big men and he is a big guy!

Big mobile guys are always a premium catch. Teamed as a double low post - can be hard to beat. The team is already deep in guards...send another hoss who
already qualifies.

Hell no to Mike Williams.....I go to UK, and I have seen him play recreationally as well as during games......he isnt mobile, he cant shoot, and he is not
athletic at all. To be honest, he is the laughing stock of the UK basketball team along with Jared Carter, and he is one of the reasons why UK fans make fun of
Tubby's recruiting. No to Mike Williams..and I dont think Tubby will pursue him.

Williams, played in 5 games for a total of 30 minutes for the season. He took 6 shots, made 2. He made 2 of 2 free throws. He had about 5 years of American
style basket ball. He was/is not D-1 material.
As for the comment on Marvin Stone, (RIP) Why did he transfer from Tubby's team to University of Louisville?? |

Because he made a mistake. Tubby put Nazr Mohammed, Scott Padgett, Jamaal Magloire, Michael Bradley, and Tayshaun Prince (all C or PF) into the NBA from 1998
through 2002.
Stone was C or PF. His new coach at Louisville has put 2 Cardinal players into the NBA from 2002 through 2008. Marvin Stone wasn't one of those 2. |

I hope the rumors have some truth in them. Jasper is a big, experienced PG and with a season to fully rehab the knee would be a great addition in 2009. I
