New Rivals Top 150 of 2009 - White and Williams Both Top 30 |

Rivals just posted their new Top 150 of 2009. Royce is now up to # 18 and Rodney is at # 28!

Royce moving up to #18 makes him Top 25, which also now gives him a fifth star in the rankings, making him Tubby's first 5-star recruit at Minnesota.
Rodney's there with 4-stars, too. Wouldn't that be sweet to have them both playing in Gopher gold? Also, notice that Glen Rice Jr and a few others who
Tubby is showing strong interest in are there with 4 stars. This should be interesting to see how it all shakes out with available scholarships and who else
wants to be a Golden Gopher.

I think both Royce and Rodney had deserving spots.
Notable Players that have Minnesota Connections of some sort High School / College 18. Royce White Hopkin/Minnesota 28. Rodney Williams Jr. Cooper/Undecided 39. Mfon Udonfia Miller Grove/Undecided 56. Glen Rice Walton/Undecided 58. Jamil Wilson Horlick/Undecided 60. Jeronne Maymon Madison Memorial/Undecided 98. Trent Lockett Hopkin/Arizona State 99. Johnnie Lacy Bay View/Undecided 111. DaShonte Riley Country Day/Undecided 112. Chris Colvin Whitney Young/Undecided 139. Sam Dower Osseo/Undecided 144. Mike Bruesewitz Henry Sibley/Wisconsin My big question is what happened to DaShonte Riley? A Five-Star Player and dropped all the way down to #111 |

Chris Colvin, who I know some in Chicago are pretty high on, also tumbled from (IIRC) #40 to #112.

Riley can't score.......... | #4 | ||
|
at least so far. I don't kow how many times he's posted double figures so far but it's not many. He's still a project but has the body.
Supposedly, he went scoreless against Pulley Black the Kingwood. The Miller kid thta we supposedly offered is not ranked either. He's plays at a small rural Christian school against other small schools so he hasn't been mentioned much, but evidently he's doing well in AAU ball. |

Interesting stats taken from the article about the players in the new Rivals150:
Where they are going: Big Ten 15 Big East 11 ACC 10 SEC 6 Big 12 5 Pac-10 4 CUSA 2 Big West/MAC/WCC 1 each So is the upgrade in coaching in the Big Ten paying off recruiting-wise? It sure seems like it. With 15 on this list, it looks like the Big Ten can get its status back as one of the top 3 conferences. Where they are from: California 23 Texas 13 Georgia 12 Illinois 10 Maryland 9 Virginia 8 New York 6 Indiana, Minnesota 5 each Whoa, Minnesota is tied for 8th in the nation with most recruits in the 150. Got to credit the Pulley AAU program for that. If we can consistently get the top Minnesotans to play for the U, I have to think we can be top 3 in the Big Ten year in and year out. Who is Sam Dower?

Dower | #8 | ||
|
Dower is a 6'7 lefty sf/pf from Osseo with pretty decent athleticism who should flourish after being the second option the last two years with the
graduation of Carrington Tankson. Nice range on the jumpshot and good face up game but the difference between him and say, Royce White, another combo forward,
is his back to the basket game. Reminds me alot of Calvin Walls who ironically played for Osseo before transferring to Henry a few years back. With added
strength and improved post up game he is a solid high mid-major prospect (Missouri Valley, Mountain West) player. Could develop into an Eric Coleman type
player under the right system. Look for him to be a much more dominant scorer this year.

I saw Dower at the St. Thomas Jamboree at the start of this past HS season. He is not as athletic as I expected, and his skill level is not particularly high.
Unless he has improved by a significant, significant amount, there is no way he should be ranked ahead of Bruesewitz, even if only by 5 spots.

Royce is a 5 star on the court no matter what Rivals.com and Scout.com say or on any paper. He got skills and he knows how to use it well.

Michigan and Michigan St. fans who have seen Riley play (HS and AAU) have not been very complimentary of him. Sounds like he is all potential and no real game
right now, and is at best the third best big on his AAU team. Michigan St. took another big (Nix?) from The Family, and a second one has committed to Miami.
