That was my biggest complaint during this game. We converted more 3rd and longs than 3rd and 1. The problem when you go in shot gun formation in a 3rd and 1
situation is that by the time the qb gets the ball it is 8 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Dunbar is so married to the spread that at times it seems as
though he does not take the yardage into consideration. It is very irritating to not make these 3rd and short conversions. I put that on Dunbar poor play
calling.

I couldn't believe it when I saw Weber go under center. A couple of the guys sitting in my section were elated as well. Lets see more of it. This type of
alignment jives with Brewsters tough, hardnosed approach which is buried deep in Dunbar's playbook.
One of the issues I have with the spread option handoff is the RB often receives the ball at a 45 degree angle from the LOS. Thus he has limited vision of the backside. And Eskridge is not adept to making cutbacks. |
