According to Blue Ribbon, the Rams have a decent backcourt with two experienced players returning but a bit of mish-mash in their front court. Blue Ribbon gave a "D" to their frontcourt and doesn't provide much information to support the notion that CSU will be in the bottom third of the Mountain West conference.
A local note: the front court includes Eden Prairie's Dan Vandervieren who transferred from Purdue after his freshman year. I recall the comments after Purdue's visit here two seasons ago regarding Vandervieren's mom who was a bit over the top when coming to vocalizing her support of Dan. If she makes the road trips, we might be able to hear her on WCCO's broadcast ... or those with the Mountain may actually catch a shot of her. If you see Vandervieren, look fast as he's only averaged 6 minutes a game. In his first game he played 8 minutes and fouled out within that span of time. (ouch!)
Colorado State has two games under its belt with wins over Montana (85-55) and Northern Colorado (85-74). Their top scorer is guard Marcus Walker who's averaging 24 ppg and 30.5 minutes. They also have a true freshman guard, Jesse Carr, with an average of 10.5 ppg and had a great reputation as a scorer playing high school ball in Nebraska. Carr replaced starter Willis Gardner in the Northern Colorado game who suffered a sprained ankle in the first half. (No word as yet whether Gardner will play this Saturday)
